Service description

Bee Translate is a macOS menu bar translation tool. It provides Apple on-device translation and optional online translation services from OpenAI, DeepL, Google (Gemini), and DeepSeek. Translation results are for reference and should not be the sole basis for medical, legal, financial, safety, or other decisions requiring professional judgment.

Apple on-device translation depends on system capabilities and language resources provided by Apple. Online translation requires you to configure your own third-party API key and explicitly consent before data is sent to each provider for the first time.

Your responsibilities

You are responsible for the content you enter, copy, or submit for translation through a keyboard shortcut, and for confirming that you have the necessary rights and authorization. Do not use the app to send unlawful, infringing, confidential, or otherwise inappropriate content to the selected provider.

You are responsible for complying with the terms of each third-party service, applicable laws, and API key security requirements, as well as for any API fees. API keys are stored in your macOS Keychain. Do not share them with others.

Online services

Online services are provided by independent third parties and are not operated or controlled by Bee Translate. Availability, translation quality, content processing, retention, and pricing are governed by each provider’s terms. You can withdraw consent for an online service in Settings → Translation Services. After withdrawal, the app stops sending new translation and key-validation requests to that service.

Pro purchase

Bee Translate Pro is a one-time in-app purchase that unlocks the Pro features identified in the app. Purchases, refunds, and purchase restoration are handled by Apple and your App Store account and are subject to Apple’s media services terms. Features may change in future versions. Previously purchased content will be handled in accordance with applicable law and Apple’s rules.

Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The app is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the extent permitted by applicable law, we do not guarantee that the app, translation results, or third-party services will always be accurate, complete, secure, uninterrupted, or suitable for your particular purpose.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or data losses arising from the use of, or inability to use, the app, translation results, third-party services, or API keys.

Changes and contact

These terms may be updated as the app develops. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the updated terms. For questions, email support@huangyang.me.
